40 Leap to Shine volunteers gathered at the break of dawn in Skillman Park, NJ, to start preparing for a grand event: the 1st edition of Leap to Shine 5K Run/Walk.
Young volunteers of Leap to Shine NJ take immense pride in spending their summer planning the event, getting registrations, and finally executing it in Fall 2022. Their hard work meant 250 registrations for the event.
The event was a family activity, with parents and children coming together in support of Leap to Shine’s mission. Event day saw youngsters as young as 5 pitch in whilst young teens whizzed about on their bicycles ferrying banners, posting signs, and prepping the course.
After several hours of energetic activity on Sunday morning, the Race was flagged off with 200+ participants at 9 a.m. on September 17. The fun atmosphere at the venue was enhanced by a lovely Flash dance performance with volunteers/participants all combining to creating a festive and lively atmosphere.
This event was also a part of India’s 75th year Independence celebration.
Event was graced by Consulate General of India, New York – Randhir Jaiswal as a Chief Guest. He gave awards to all the winners of 5k Run. Randhirji also handed out President’s Volunteer Service awards to the exceptional Leap to Shine volunteers.
The runners/ walkers, and the 40 volunteers were all supporting the efforts of Leap to Shine to enable quality education for underserved children in India. Children of migrant workers, day laborers, girl children, children from financially strapped backgrounds are equipped with books, digital tablets, nutritional meals, vitamin supplements, shoes, book bags through Leap to Shine’s commitment to their welfare.
Participants wore classy White Tshirts with the logos of sponsors displayed on the back. This event was possible due to the generous sponsorships from our sponsors 27th Investments.

Leap to Shine, a USA based nonprofit enables quality education for underserved children with the power of digital technology. The 5k event raised $15k that will be used to enable education for children in need.
